Tokyo Smoke, the brand that sells premium cannabis lifestyle accessories along with coffee, has opened its first store in North America, in Toronto.
Located in the contemporary boutique area of Queen Street West, and boasting adjacencies with the likes of Warby Parker, the store is a first for the brand, which already runs two cafes in the city.
Canada is set to legalise cannabis in July next year which has set the business on an aggressive expansion path with six stores already scheduled to open in the next two years – including locations in Calgary; Hamilton, Ontario; and in Toronto’s East End.
Founded by a former Google executive, Tokyo Smoke sells coffee, clothing and designer goods and its aim is to banish the tacky stoner image and paraphernalia associated with a cannabis lifestyle and create a much more aspirational feel for fans of cannabis and coffee.
The business collaborated on the store interior with Toronto Design Agency and it has a monochromatic colour palette with marble and concrete countertops and the product mix has been carefully selected to hero exclusive products with local artists, designers and artisans.
