Milan Design Week returns at its usual spring dates with a full calendar of events, exhibitions and installations. Focusing on the theme of “Laboratorio Futuro”, this year’s FuoriSalone reflects on how we imagine our future and how we want to design change in relation to the uniqueness of the times in which we are living.
Starting from the Interni event called “Design Re-Evolution” – a reinterpretation of spaces, through introspection and evolution -, MiND takes you through some of this year’s highlights.
SWING

AMAZON in Collaboration with STEFANO BOERI INTERIORS
With the aim of creating spaces in which to feel an integral part of the project, Amazon, in collaboration with Stefano Boeri Interiors idealized Swing – an impressive installation inspired by play and biodiversity, an interactive and experiential space in which Amazon home furnishing products are displayed.
LA MACCHINA IMPOSSIBILE

Another impressive installation was “La Macchina Impossibile”, designed by Lissoni and produced by Sanlorenzo. An important step on the road to sustainable yachting, the technology developed by Siemens Energy uses combined reformer/fuel cell modules to convert green methanol into hydrogen and will be used by Sanlorenzo to fuel hotellerie functions on yachts between 24 and 73 meters long.
A THEATER TO SAVE THE PLANET

Andrea Boschetti’s installation at Cortile d’Onore
Using containers recovered from the sea, A Theater to Save the Planet by Andrea Boschetti is a story-telling theater serving to raise the awareness of all generations on issues such as the protection and care of nature and the environment. Every night there were shows held by professionals, in order to share their knowledge in increasingly crucial topics like sustainability, solidarity and responsible innovation.
THIS IS DENMARK

The project curated by Elena Cattaneo and Laura Traldi
Taking place at “L’Ex Macello di Porta Vittoria”,Alcova confirmed itself one of the most interesting shows of the week hosting more than 70 projects. Among these, “This is Denmark” curated by Elena Cattaneo and Laura Traldi researched primarily simplicity, craftmanship and love of materials which characterize Danish design. Sharing the characteristics of respecting tradition while innovating, the show is the story of how 15 brands interpret their national heritage illustrated in a water landscape and through a generative sound track.
WALK THE TALK

ENI in collaboration with ITALO ROTA and CRA-CARLO RATTI ASSOCIATI
At the Brera Botanical Garden, an installation-game by Italo Rota and Cra-Carlo Ratti Associati, invites the public to explore the theme of the changes to urban mobility to achieve sustainability. Representing the vision of Eni Sustainable Mobility through a surprising “living game board”, the installation was composed by hundreds of boxes painted in bright colors where visitors had to make a choice about the path to follow.
SEA DECK

AZIMUT YACHTS in collaboration with AMDL CIRCLE and MICHELE DE LUCCHI
With a floating installation designed by AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi and inspired by the yachts of the Seadeck Series, the path is a journey of discovery of the new sea deck series, the first motorbike hybrid series for families. The project is the reflection of AZIMUT YACHTS engagement in reducing environmental impact, using sustainable and recyclable materials like 2 million cork stoppers used to make the floor.
TERRA

Leucos at Archiproducts Milano in Via Tortona 31.
Terra. Inspired by Earth curated by StudioPepe is the new Design Experience at Archiproducts Milano. With the participation of numerous international brands, the interior project guides visitors throughout the discovery of a connection with the earth, creating a sense of belonging through materials, colors and lighting. Among others, Leucos lamps with warm tones and diffused lights create a sense of comfort and relaxation that would make every house a cozy, welcoming place. Furniture, lighting, finishes, carpets and more are on display all year round and are available to be purchased in the showroom and on Archiproducts’ online shop.
This year’s FuoriSalone is viewed as a laboratory for future: a place to test what will await us. Design should not only be seen as a tool to interpret society, but also as an agent, a source of change to take control and shape the future in the most sustainable way.
