Adidas Originals has opened an art, culture and community-driven flagship in Chicago.
The German sports giant has launched its biggest store in the US so far in the city’s burgeoning Wicker Park neighbourhood, home to the city’s streetwear aficionados and hipsters.
With its focus on community, the store trades from 4,966 sq ft and features artwork and installations by the artists known as POSE and Chicago Southside painter Tubsz. It is also collaborating with a community art organization, iPaintMyMind, that champions local talent.
The local theme includes an analogue community wall that can be used to highlight local events, campaigns, music and art happenings, as well as locally relevant brand product launches.
The interior design of the shop reflects elements of city life with ribbed brush steel walls mimicking the surfaces used on Chicago’s L train.
The ChiCago opening brings the total of Adidas Originals stores to seven in the US.
