For those for whom February means Valentine’s Day, or at least trekking out to shops and restaurants filled with pink and red hearts, a trip to the Fortnum & Mason flagship in Piccadilly, in central London, may be in order.

Rather than offering a few cards and some chocolate hearts, the luxury department store has used the atrium at its heart to create a three-storey high Chapel of Love. And before images of Elvis at his Las Vegas peak spring to mind, this is a structure that does indeed allow shoppers to get married (Fortnum & Mason, Piccadilly is a licensed wedding venue), but it does so with a degree of formality, as might be expected of such an august institution.

The Chapel itself has a high spire and even boasts a bell at its top, striking an appropriately kitsch note.
This may be a thing of candyfloss gloss, but it should, once again, ensure that this retailer remains at the top of many London-visiting shoppers’ lists
