German men’s online grooming products business Woodberg has opened its first store.
The shop is located on the Schulstraßeon in Darmstadt, the town where the retailer is headquartered in the southern half of Germany.
Designed by local architects Why The Friday, the store has been created as an online/offline hub to sell to bricks and mortar visitors while despatching online orders from the site. Because of this the design brief was to create a space where the two functions could go on without obvious borders between shop and “warehouse”. The ecommerce picking area at the rear of the store is open to view with a subtle shift in the fixturing and layout made to service its more functional needs.
To create this environment the store fixtures, particularly shelving at the rear of the space, were created to make picking and packing as simple as possible.
Handmade cement tiling around the central sink and on feature walls is teamed with light oak fixtures with navy blue painted blocks and highlights to aid navigation. The central sink feature with its seating and tables has been designed for customer interaction and product demonstration to encourage customers to sit down and receive counsel, or try Woodberg’s products at the sink.
