Luxeporium, a Chengdu Showstopper

For those in search of luxury, almost any Chinese city of scale will prove a fertile hunting ground these days and Chengdu, capital of the south-western province of Chengdu, is no exception.

Here, Luxemporium has opened and if the quest is to understand what the future of luxury retail might look like, then this is a very good place to start. With multiple rooms, a colour scheme (peach, amethyst, light blue and metallic) that wouldn’t look out of place in a sci-fi movie and fixturing and design that make the store the star every bit as much as the stock, this is a place that shoppers will feel compelled to linger in.

‘Time travel’ and ‘parallel universe’ are the major themes, apparently, that Shanghai-based interior design outfit All Design Studio has used as it starting point for this one and it certainly looks other worldly, in a way that Korean eyewear retailer Gentle Monster also makes part of its proposition.

A showstopper.
