Third-generation pharmacy owner Yen Po Liu has appointed Waterfront Designs to modernise the family-run pharmacy, providing a contemporary edge.
The designers were inspired by DNA, overhauling the 170 sq m space that merges nature with technology. Nature is dominant in the interior with the use of light wood for the long-bench style counters and the tree trunk which forms the table top.
A feature of the store is the spiral staircase, which resembles the double-helix structure of a DNA molecule. The iron shelving with frosted-glass backdrop provides a clinical edge, punctuated by brown medical bottles and coloured glass.
It’s not about medicine, although this is the starting point. Coffee and a range of juices are also on offer – the staff are baristas as well as pharmacists. This is a space that takes the pharmacy category and injects a sense of play and, at the same time, calmness to the interior.
