Notting Hill Goop
If you believe in ‘wellness’ you may well find yourself hotfooting it over to London’s Notting Hill where Gwyneth Paltrow, goddess of all things ‘well’, has taken a unit on the area’s Westbourne Grove to open a pop-up, the UK’s first, housing her Goop offer.
As perhaps might be expected, the exterior is relatively simple and parts of the interior are self-consciously recycled-looking with chipboard panels being used to form the perimeter display panels and wooden planks laid across the floor.
That said, other areas feature gold and deep ochre colourings, this is the beauty department, intended to remind the visitor of the brand’s Californian provenance. And the basement has been coloured blue, home to the sportswear department and supposed to mimic the US east coast.
In total, the work of design studio Fran Hickman is warm and unflashy with the product doing most of the legwork as far as gentle colour is concerned.
This may be a pop-up, but as it is open until the end of January 2019, it may well outlast some of its upscale neighbours in this affluent neighbourhood.
