Several years ago, Kaili Scheer noticed a gap in the activewear market. She couldn’t find any independent labels, only the big name brands we all know. So with no prior experience, but a goal in mind, Kaili launched Olympia Activewear.

What Kaili lacked in experience, she made up for with hard work, sleepless nights, an open mind and a whole lot of determination. “I had to learn everything in real time, which was hard but there was an undeniable momentum.” The timing of the launch of Olympia was perfect and orders started coming in.

“It’s been great to see athleisure elevated into a category of its own. Activewear has become just as important as any other category in the industry.”

Since its foundation, Olympia Activewear has been focused on telling stories and staying true to its core values- simple, modern, refined for all women, all ages. Olympia is a brand that is more than just athletic clothing, it represent strength and femininity. Through the brand’s imagery, design and ethos, Kaili strives to make Olympia more than “just another pair of leggings”. More than that, Olympia gives back by supporting charitable causes that aim to empower women.

“We are living in a time where the lives of women are changing greatly. As a brand, we feel it is important to contribute to the forward trajectory of women in society.”

Beyond being a champion of women, Kaili is pushing Olympia in a more sustainable eco-friendly direction from sourcing to packaging to everything in between. “Every choice we make is an opportunity to do better for the environment.” Currently, Olympia uses recycled packaging and print materials and works to reduce its waste, but the brand wants to do more. “My next goal is to make the company plastic free.”

Kaili shared that in the future, she would love to have one Olympia flagship store. One location where people could experience the brand in its entirety since there are parts of a brand that simply can’t be conveyed or experienced online.

Truly a brand built by women, for women, Kaili expressed her thoughts on the fitness industry really focusing on women today. “For one, we as women are so much more inclined to care about how we look. Women work out in studios, together, and there is a camaraderie and a connection there. The saying goes ‘women don’t dress for men, they dress for other women’. I believe there is a lot of truth to that.”

We asked Kaili how she keeps active and although a busy new mom, she revealed that she manages to fit in a couple fitness classes a week. Between business and a baby, Kaili strives to do her best. Following the words of her grandfather, “good better best, never let it rest, until the good is better and the better is best,” Kaili knows she and the brand can always improve. Determined to be better and do the best Kaili reminds herself, “the evolution of the brand is what the journey is all about.”
