The legalization of cannabis in certain US states is leading to a mini-design boom of retail stores and products devoted to all things ‘pot’.
Serra in Portland, Oregon, is a high-design space devoted to selling recreational drugs. Created by Portland studios OMFGCo and JHL Design, the minimal space is the city’s self-proclaimed modern drug store.
Serra is Italian for greenhouse and has been reflected in the interiors. Mini glass and wooden greenhouses are located through the space to showcase the various products. Neon lights and signs have been used with mini-smoke ring pendant lights hanging from the high ceilings.
A living green wall is a very appropriate design feature with an illuminated neon sign saying – Quality Drugs. The exterior of the store is in a late Victorian black terrace building and you can only enter if you are over 21.
Just when you think online retail is taking over physical stores, there is always a new category to emerge.
