Ribble Cycles Makes Bike Buying a Luxury Experience
There are bike shops where customers walk in to take a look at a range of two-wheeled stallions and imagine themselves tucked in as part of a fast-moving peloton. Then, occasionally, there are cycle stores where the space itself is every bit as much the star as the vehicles it displays.
The latter is the case in the winsome Ribble Cycles flagship that has just opened in Clitheroe, to the north-west of Manchester. This is a 2,000 sq ft space in which every bike has its own display area and comes with an adjacent screen detailing all that the dream machine is capable of (assuming the requisite level of fitness).
There is also a customisation tool, dubbed BikeBuilder that allows shoppers to make a bike their own by adding accessories from a range. The store even has its own scent, created for this branch.
Ribble claims to be a ‘digital first’ business (and indeed, there is a 4k video wall, Europe’s largest, apparently), but on the evidence of Citheroe, this one has its wheels very much in the physical world…and on the road.
The store design is the handiworld of London-based Stamp.
