See You Tomorrow Today in New York
The idea of wearing clothes that somebody else has worn was, until relatively recently, the stuff of which the wardrobes of students combing through charity shops was made. Now the trend towards wearing ‘nearly new’ or ‘carefully curated resale’ garments is beginning to hit the mainstream and if proof were needed of the direction of travel, then the See You Tomorrow shop-in-shop, just opened, in department store Nordstrom’s NYC giant is a case in point.
This is a semi-discrete space at the west end of the recently opened giant on 57th Street, accessed either from the street and up some stairs, or the main body of the shop itself. Within, this is a light and airy space with windows along the whole of one side and neutrally coloured fixturing that makes the stock the star.
All of the items on offer have been previously bought and returned. If necessary they are then cleaned/repaired and put on sale once more, with big name labels being available at a discount in consequence.
It’s a good-looking shop-in-shop that manages almost to feel like an upscale indie.
