Starbucks Roastery Opens in New York
In retail and hospitality design terms, one of the things that 2018 will probably be remembered for is the spread of the Starbucks Reserve Roastery format with an awe-inspiring outpost opening in Milan, joining the existing ‘stores’ in Shanghai and Seattle.
Now the West Coast coffee giant has unveiled a 23,000 sq ft store in New York’s Meatpacking District and like its sister outposts one of its hallmarks is the use that has been made of copper as a decorative element, backed by an extensive use of dark wood.
This one boasts two coffee bars, which might perhaps be expected, but there are also two floors, the upper being a mezzanine level. On this floor a ‘craft’ cocktail bar is located, called ‘Arriviamo’, which is a first for a Starbucks Roastery, offering tea-infused cocktails, among other things.
As elsewhere, the Roastery also has a Princi Bakery, the Milanese brand bought by Starbucks in 2016.
