Zara Opens Largest Store in Asia
At 3,600 sq m, the new four-floor Zara store in downtown Beijing is the Inditex brand’s largest in Asia (although not the largest globally, that store is in Madrid).
It is both a mark of the retailer’s confidence in physical retail and confirmation of the Inditex strategy of having fewer, but bigger and better, stores in its portfolio which was announced earlier this year. All of which means that stores like this one act as destinations in their own right.
Worth noting about this mega-branch, on the city’s Wangfujing retail thoroughfare, is the way in which a linear space has been curved, thanks both to fixtures and freestanding walls. This is also a highly polished interior, one that, like other Zara flaggships, succeeds in the task of making inexpensive merchandise feel like it is part of an upscale experience.
